Saturday, 1/19/08: I'd be rich
I went to see 27 Dresses at the new ArcLight Sherman Oaks. This used to be the Pacific Galleria, which was fine, as far as I was concerned. Now, it is a swanky, swanky theatre. I have to admit, I enjoy the idea of assigned seats. And the twinkly lights behind sheer curtains decorating the walls? Nice touch.
I'm not so sure I like $12.75 for a movie. Whatever happened to $4.50 matinées? (I saw the movie at night, but I'm sure their matinée price is not $4.50.) It wasn't so long ago that Mom would drop us off at the new AMC for an afternoon movie. Or, hey, student prices in college at the Savoy 16 were only $5.50, and that was an evening show! And that was only five years ago! Maybe it's a California thing. Are movies this expensive everywhere?
Anyway, the movie was cute. The theatre was nice. If I had a million dollars, I'd have my own home theatre, but until then... I'll be saving my pennies.
