Just... wow.

There's this woman, Lucy, who's blog I used to occasionally read. She was a friend of a friend's; I never met her in person, nor do I think I ever even commented on her blog. I'm pretty sure I had no contact with Lucy... ever. But I did read what she had to say here and there. She seemed like a pretty cool chick. Someone I actually shared a lot of interests with, and probably would have liked if I had met her. I lost the link to her blog in one computer change or another, and never really thought much of it.

I found out from our mutual friend that Lucy went into the hospital in June with a nasty stomach flu, which ended up being cancer. She passed away this weekend. She was an otherwise healthy woman not much older than I am. Reading back in her blog now, she had a happy, normal life up until June. She talked about movies she'd seen and TV shows she was enjoying. About refinancing her mortgage and applying for an awesome new job, which she got. And then, this.

I don't know why I'm so shaken by this. I didn't know her! But she could have been my friend.

I actually have lots of happy things to talk about. I had an awesome weekend in San Diego! So tonight, more on that. :D

For now, off to work...

You look like a monkey, and you smell like one too!

I'm in the midst of my busy summer, and it caused me to forget my own puppy's birthday yesterday! I mean, I don't celebrate my cats' birthdays, but last year I'd gotten a piece of doggy cake at the dog bakery for Chloe's first birthday, and her second went by without me even being home until after 10pm. I hope her puppy playfulness doesn't start to slip away quite yet. She's so freaking adorable when she plays!

Happy (belated) birthday, Chloe-pup!

What a difference ten minutes makes!

Every morning, I get up at 5:40 and walk Chloe.

Yesterday, Gen was on a 6:00 flight to Chicago, so when I got up at 5:40, I had a text message conversation with her. I was ten minutes late to start our walk.

Chloe and I have a route we take every morning. The same thing, every morning. Evening walks are for going wherever we please, playing and running and having fun; morning walks are for getting down to business.

Just as we were getting to the point where Chloe does what she's there to do, right in the middle of a large grassy area, THE SPRINKLERS CAME ON.

Poor Chloe was so freaked out that she dragged me straight home.

So that's the difference ten minutes makes in the morning: a shower. I prefer to take my showers after our walks, and with warm water and in the bathroom.

What a wake-up!
