Last but not least, my poster of Disney posters. I love it! I got it at Property Control at WDW for, like, $2 because the last movie pictured is Mulan, and by then Tarzan had come out. So it's all the Disney Animated Features released from 1937 through 1998. What could be more cool??

I know you've seen this picture before, but it's the picture I took on the 18th. I won't bore you all with the rocky story of finally managing to get docs signed, and I won't go on to say the craziness didn't end there. But! In the blurry area behind the key is a picture of a castle. It (the picture, not the castle) belongs to Gen, and the minute she unpacked it, I exclaimed, "That's at Disney World!" It's totally Cinderella's castle, disguised as an artsy castle photograph. *g* Pretty neat! Not... that you can tell from this photograph, but.

Wednesday. I can't even remember what happened on Wednesday! I've packed most of my Disney stuff, but this little metal Mickey necklace is still out. He looks like a line drawing, which I enjoy. Mickey was the first Disney character I learned to draw, waaaay back when I was about... ten? I think that's the trip to WDW when Jess and I took a Behind the Scenes at MGM/Disney Art class. It was the coolest experience ever, seeing the Magic from backstage, learning to draw Disney characters, finding hidden Mickeys... way cool. And somehow, this Mickey reminds me of that!

I'm pretty sure Mom and Jess are going to kill me for posting this picture, as they'd both just woken up to see me off to work. They still had a few hours to spare before they had to head to the airport. But it was their last morning here, and it's the only picture I took on the 15th, so I must apologize. But also, I'm glad they were here for me to take a picture of! Yay, family!

Monday, 7/14/08: Aaaaand... Attack!

This week's theme is Disney. I was given this blanket for my birthday a few years back, and it's awesome. So comfy! The bed it's on is the air mattress I pulled out for my mom and sister's visit, and holy cow were the cats excited by it. They don't get to play on air mattresses too often, and they took full advantage. Especially Monet.

On Sunday, Mom, Jess, Gen, and I went to the California Science Center to see Body Worlds 3. It was amazing and cool and fabulous, and I loved it. I also love the Science Center in general. This curly tube is one of those things where you can whisper into one end, and someone else can hear you aaaaaall the way over at the other end.

They also have an exhibit of space photography, which is neat, and a set-up where you can lift a pick-up truck with your bare hands (and, you know, the apparatus) by using leverage. And a little closet-sized thing that simulates a hurricane! I felt like one of those unfortunate news reporters stuck out in the wind to report back how awful the storm is. Hee.

Or, nearly so. It'll fund Monday, record Tuesday. But! I have a KEY! And first thing on my mile-long To Do List: change the locks. *g*

On Saturday, our plan was to go to the beach. We stopped by to see the condo, and my realtor suggested Paradise Cove for lunch. It was a cute little area where, apparently, the Rockford Files was filmed. The food was good, the beach was pretty, and it was a perfect day. Karey asked to see my favorite thing I did with my mom and sister, and this ranks up there!

So, the theme is requests, but this is MY request. My mom! Can you tell we're related? Hee. Mom and Jess arrived on Friday. We had breakfast at Solly's, went to a taping of the Tonight Show, dinner at Porto's, and then home so they could collapse from exhaustion. It's really nice to have family here!

I don't normally make coffee at home, because we have it at work for free. And I can drink it at my leisure there, instead of hurrying through it to get myself out the door. My mom, however, does drink coffee at home in the mornings, so the coffee pot and coffee came out in preparation for her visit.

Wednesday, 7/9/08: A mess of books

My messy, messy bookshelf! I have books out in the living room, too. When I move in to the condo, I need to think about reorganizing my bookshelves. Right now, there's just not enough room the way I have them set up.

The request was a picture of my favorite book, which is actually either My Sister's Keeper or To Kill a Mockingbird, but I lent the former to a coworker, and the latter I own, but absolutely could not find when I went to take the picture (I hope it turns up when I start packing to move!). So. Have my favorite baby book! It was Jenelle's last week before maternity leave, so I gave this to her as a going-away gift. [Side story: when I went to buy it, the cashier asked if I was potty training someone. The book is so not about potty training, so I had no idea what he was talking about at first!]

Hide your eyes, you might be frightened right to death! *g*

I spent the Fourth of July with Elaina and Danny. We (and by "we" I mean "Danny") grilled out, and Elaina made a red, white, and blue trifle, which was delicious. A bunch of their friends came over and we played games and chatted before heading over to the fireworks on the beach.

In this picture, Elaina and Danny relive their childhood on the swings. I'd taken a turn earlier. I'd forgotten how much fun swinging can be. There's not a care in the world when you're swinging higher and higher! Okay, that sounds really dorky. But it's true.

I went to Santa Barbara after work on Thursday to visit Elaina and Danny. We took a walk after dinner and they had to show me this street sign. I often look at street names and think whether I would or wouldn't want to have that as part of my address. I'm kind of torn on this one... it talks about a panda's butt if you say it fast, but then it's humorous. No K here, but it's the picture I took on the 3rd, so.
